Description :- The Instrument is used to determine Softening point of Bitumen, resins and other semi-solid samples in the Temp. range from ambient upto 150°C. The sample is heated under controlled conditions of 5°C/minute rise in temp. The heating rate of temp. is controlled accurately through PID Ramp Temp Controller. Stirring is done through PTFE Magnetic bar electrically whose speed can be adjusted through regulator. The top lid is made of S.S. 304 on which the beaker is mounted. The sample is placed in the centering guide and steel ball on the sample. The temp. at which the sample softens and is converted into liquid state is considered as the softening point of that sample.
